| The BKS Iyengar Yoga Studio of Dallas wishes to provide the very best in teacher training, not only for the Iyengar system, but to encourage excellence in teaching of all styles of yoga. The Teacher Education Program encompasses not only asana, but all eight limbs of yoga according to the Sutras of Patanjali. The program consists of Teaching Methods, Philosophy, Anatomy, Physiology, Pranayama and Yoga Ethics.
The IYNAUS (Iyengar Yoga National Association of the United States) Certification Committee is responsible for developing and administering the assessments that certify teachers with the goal of maintaining, promoting and protecting the excellence of BKS Iyengar's method of practicing and teaching yoga. All teachers must attend rigorous training classes under higher level teachers.
The process of certification in the Iyengar system has been designed and refined over the last 12 years under the guidance of BKS and Geeta Iyengar. This process is in continual refinement. Our community of practitioners of yoga in the Iyengar tradition is proud of the quality of our teachers and strive to maintain that high standard.
The BKS Iyengar Yoga Studio of Dallas offers a number of workshops each year with senior teachers for teacher training. The studio provides Assessment Preparation with Devon Dederich for those interested in the assessment process. Devon currently holds her Junior Intermediate II level of certification and has instructed numerous teachers in the Dallas area since 1998. Many of Devon's student teachers have successfully passed their IYNAUS assessments including Randy Just, Marj Rash, Paula Weithman, Kevin Mason, Larry Lane, Anne Bowery, Denise Skipper and Ally David.
We offer many opportunities for continuous teacher training by sponsoring workshops with visiting senior teachers throughout the year to complement Devon's classes. All instructors at our studio are required to attend ongoing teacher training in order to maintain their position on the faculty.
Our upcoming teacher training workshops are:
